Today was the first day of a 6-week group coaching program I joined with my ADHD coach,
- and considering how many group calls I host and run each week, you’d think I’d be fully aware of how useful group coaching and accountability/body doubling programs can be. And I suppose my subconscious did recognize this (or else I wouldn’t have signed up), but I am really glad to have such a loud reminder of how powerful this tool is and why I need more of these groups and coaching in my life. For instance - I am writing this substack now. I haven’t written here in an embarrassingly long time… but all it took was me paying money to a lovely coach to join a group that included dedicated time for working on things: and here I am. This is a tool that works for me, and now I can pull it out of my “productivity backpack” as needed (well, at the weekly scheduled time for the next 5 weeks, anyway). But you can bet I will be looking for more tools like this in the future, as long as this works for me!
If you’re wondering how you might be able to implement this handy hack, you can recreate this with friends (as long as they are as serious about their own tasks as you are), hire a one-on-one coach (like me!), or even sign up for one of those working session services and do it with strangers.
Not all productivity hacks work for everyone, so you will need to experiment with options for yourself. But there are tools that will work, it’s just a matter of playing around until you find it (and celebrate when you do!).
